Hiking
The Orchard Inn Nature Trail -
A short 15-minute walk around part of the perimeter of the property, a great way to unwind after your drive.

Pearson's Falls - Just down the mountain towards Tryon, a wonderful half-mile walk into one of the areas most photographed waterfalls

Pisgah Forest- A National Forest with day hikes of varied lengths. We can direct you to the Information Center.
Carl Sandburg Home (Connemara)- Over 200 acres connected to this National Historic Site. Short hikes to perfectly beautiful vistas of the area.
FENCE (Foothills Equestrian and Nature Center) - Located in nearby Tryon, this center has delightful trails and sometimes-guided nature walks.
Caesar's Head State Park- Located about 40 minutes away in South Carolina are some wonderful trails and bike paths.
 
 
Kayaking
Pisgah Whitewater- A sport like kayaking has the magic to take you down paths you never thought you would travel in a lifetime. Ask any serious paddler and you hear a similar story, "After paddling my first river, my whole life changed." Experience the local rivers for yourself with professional kayaking instructors. 828/883-4026.
 
 
Jogging
We can direct you to the routes from one to as many miles as you wish from the inn. Remember, we're in the hills and at 2500' elevation!!
 
 
Horseback Riding
There is horseback riding in the Pisgah Forest. Inquire as to times at the Ranger Station.

Scenic Drives
Blue Ridge Parkway- Follow I-26 West to the Parkway exit (about 25 miles).
Highway 176- Recently declared a Scenic By-way, this highway will take you by waterfalls and wooded beauty as it winds East from Saluda down the mountain past quaint little shops and homes.
 
 
Antiquing
There are many wonderful antique shops located in Saluda, Tryon and Landrum (take 176 East). Hendersonville's Main Street is also loaded with shops.
 
 
Crafts
Blue Spiral - A wonderful gallery in Asheville. Heartwood Gallery - Located on Saluda's Main Street, this popular shop features quality crafts from all over the country. Saluda Mountain Crafts - Just off the I-26 exit for Saluda. The Stamp Peddler - A creative stamp store. Touchstone Gallery - Hendersonville's finest gallery. Western North Carolina Folk Art Center - Located off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Black Mountain. Blue Spiral - A wonderful gallery in Asheville.
