Exclusive Apiary Experience
Join us for an exciting new Apiary Experience at the Orchard Inn this spring! We’re partnering with Sandy Bee Mine for a Honey Tasting and tour of homegrown honey bee colonies.
Throughout the day, you will experience a curated honey-tasting session, food pairing, and charcuterie lunch with a complimentary glass of wine or beer, presented by Newman’s Restaurant. Sample a variety of honeys and hone your tasting skills with a sensory analysis, unraveling the unique flavor profile of each variety.
Get suited up in a full suit and take a guided tour of the bee colonies. With a seasoned beekeeper leading the way, you’ll gain firsthand insights into the life inside a honeybee colony. During your up-close — but safe — encounter with the pollinators, you will get to hold frames, spot the queen, and inspect hives.
This will be a 3-4 hour interactive experience which includes the charcuterie lunch, Complimentary glass of wine or beer, honey tasting and visit to the bee colonies on property for $125 per person.

Austrian Wine Dinner | Thursday, August 27th & 28th, 2026
Join us for a wonderful culinary experience on Thursday, August 27th and Friday, August 28th when we will be hosting an Austrian wine dinner here at Newman’s Restaurant! Marianne, co-owner and Food & Beverage Director, is originally from Vienna, which is not only famous for its music and culture but also for its outstanding food & wine.
Marianne and Chef Correy have crafted a fabulous 5-course meal, each paired with the perfect wine. The dinner begins at 6:30. Seating is available inside our air conditioned dining room or outside on our beautiful dining terrace. The cost of the meal is only $145 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

An Evening with CARL – In His Own Words
Our celebrated actor, Steve Carlisle, will portray Carl Sandburg between each of the fabulous 4 courses of a dinner inspired around the family’s Flat Rock farm – Connemara, reading some of his poetry and talking about his life.

Carl Sandburg (1878–1967) was a renowned American poet, biographer, journalist, folklorist, and historian. He is best known for his poetry celebrating American working-class life, as well as for his monumental, Pulitzer Prize–winning biography of Abraham Lincoln.
In the later part of his life, from 1945 until his death in 1967, Sandburg lived in Flat Rock, North Carolina, at a home called Connemara. The peaceful setting provided him with a retreat where he could continue writing while his wife, Lillian “Paula” Sandburg, raised champion dairy goats on the property.
Today, Sandburg’s home is preserved as the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, managed by the National Park Service. Visitors can explore the house, its grounds, hiking trails, and even see descendants of Paula’s original goat herd.

Come Ye Thankful People Come! Treat your sweetheart or several generations of your family to a traditional AND relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. Join the convivial crowd at The Orchard Inn in Saluda NC to hike nearby trails, watch the birds, rock on the porch, and find a piece of the jigsaw puzzle. Make reservations for the chef’s fabulous Thanksgiving Buffet at $120 for adults and $60 for children under 11 (plus tax and gratuity). Seating is available from 12:30 pm to 7:30 pm by reservation only. Full breakfasts are included with your room rate.
Special 3-night packages for rooms Upstairs in the Inn include room & breakfast for 3 nights, Dinners for 2 on Friday night, and Thanksgiving Day for only $1275 for a Queen and $1295 for a King. Add an extra 4th night for only $225 for a Queen room, $245 for a King. Tax and Gratuities are additional.

Charles Dickens’ Dinners
The holiday season is such a special time of year. Our Dickens’ Dinners are the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and continue to grow in popularity. Many guests reserve a year in advance. We have therefore added Sunday nights to our 2026 calendar. Set aside one of the following dates for a magical holiday evening at our 12-acre mountaintop retreat:
Thursday’s – 12/3, 12/10, 12/17
Friday’s – 12/4, 12/11, 12/18
Saturday’s – 12/5, 12/12, 12/19
Sunday’s – 12/6, 12/13, 12/20
Enjoy the chef’s memorable four-course dinner with readings from Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. Dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 and will end in candlelight by the roaring fire with a Smoking Bishop. Since seating is limited in our physically distanced dining room, make your reservations early to be sure you can attend!
What’s the Cost?
For the evening, it’s $110 per person, plus tax and gratuity. After dinner, treat yourself to an overnight in one of the eight upstairs rooms of the Inn. Special price for rooms upstairs in the Inn when you attend a Dickens’ Dinner – $275 for Rooms 3, 4, 7 and 8 and $295 for Rooms 1, 2, 9 and 10.

New Year’s Eve Gala
Ring in 2027 in style. Our sensational, seven-course dinner begins with hors d’oeuvres at 7 pm and sit-down dinner at 8, ending with a complimentary glass of French Champagne while watching the ball drop at midnight. Black tie optional. A perfect gathering spot for a couple or group of friends. Dinner is open to the public @ $175 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
We also offer a NYE package which includes brunch on New Year’s Day, dinner for 2 on December 31st at our Black Tie Optional Gala and dinner for 2 on December 30th for only $599 plus the cost of whichever accommodation you choose.
Book early as most of our sold-out crowd from last New Year’s Eve has already reserved space for this year’s extravaganza. All rooms and cottages have a 2-night minimum requirement. Tax and gratuities are additional.
